My Hobby

When I'm not spending time with my family or when I want some "me" time this is where I go.  My scrapbook desk.  This is just a quick shot and it's not the whole desk but I couldn't show you the rest.....it's an absolute mess.  :)

At the current time I am working on a scrapbook for my best friend, Ramsey.  She just had her second baby, a little girl named Gretchen and I wanted to make a scrapbook for her like I did for her first baby.  I've only made a few scrapbooks for people because I think it is something from the heart and I only do it for those who are close to me and I know will really cherish it.  I have a few other friends that I would make them for but they also scrapbook.

God Has A Plan

I have a mixture of emotions today.  Jeff told me this morning that it looks like they are definitely closing his building, which means he'll be without a job come June if he doesn't find something before hand.  I knew when he called this morning that that is what he was calling about.

With big news like that looming over our heads we decided it was time to find out the official news on something else that has been hanging over our heads.  Are we expecting a third baby?  Mother nature has not been to visit me for sometime and it's very unlike me.  Although when we found out we were pregnant with Bennett it was a screwy situation (I'll save that for another post) so I thought this really could be a possibility....baby #3.  So I called the Dr.'s office today to schedule a blood test for tomorrow.  Well I got my answer this evening.

I have to say that I am very disappointed.  I had mixed emotions in the beginning.  It wasn't planned but I've said all along that I want three kids and Jeff has always said two, although not firmly.  I was excited at the possibility but also a little reluctant.  My reluctance came from wanting to make sure that Bennett gets all the attention he deserves as a baby and toddler, just as Carson did and a new baby would take away from that.  But as days passed I grew more and more excited about the idea of having another baby.  I absolutely love being pregnant and having babies.  It's something that agrees with my body and my mind more than anything I've ever known.

I really do believe that God has a plan for us and that right now isn't the time for us to be adding to our family.  I just hope that that doesn't mean we are looking at rough times ahead but more like keeping our worries to a minimum for the time being.

I really hope that someday in the near future I get to bring another baby home from the hospital to join our family.  I hope that Jeff will want the same things I do.  I hope that I'm not asking for too much and that God will bless our family with another perfect, healthy child.  I hope that's His plan.

As Promised

Not much going on today.  So I thought today would be a good day to take that "after" picture of my newly organized pantry.  Now to determine the next area to tackle.

Poor baby just can't keep his eyes open.....simply ADORABLE.

Brother Bath Time

Now that Bennett can sit well on his own Carson thought it was time for them to play in the tub together.  Man did these two have fun.  Carson thought it was pretty cool to have his baby brother play in the tub with him and Bennett thought it was pretty cool to SPLASH! SPLASH! SPLASH!!

Of course this picture is before the wash up.  Bennett still has dinner all over his face.  :)

Holiday Ornaments

One of the scrapbooks that I am working on is one of our Christmas ornaments and the meaning/story behind each one of them.  This one doesn't have any particular story or meaning other than it reflects and time when I just love BIG ornaments.  This one is bigger than my hand.  Maybe one day I can hand down these ornaments to my children and the scrapbook will be a reminder of what they each meant....or didn't in some cases.  :)

Another Reason I Hate To See The Holidays Go

This Eclipse Peppermint Candy Cane gum is the absolute best.  Whenever I chew it, it's like I just brushed my teeth, even Jeff thinks so.  I wish I had stocked up when I had the chance.

OH BABY!!

I can't resist taking a million pictures of this little man.  Just before bath time it dawned on me that I hadn't taken a photo that day so I grabbed my phone and snapped away.  Love this teeny little man.

O Christmas Tree

I love this little Christmas tree in my kitchen.  I have one just like it at work with white, silver and turquoise bulbs on it.  I'm sad to be taking it down now that the holidays are over.

Organization

I have many areas of my home that are in desperate need of organization.  One of those being my pantry.  See for yourself....after pictures to follow at a later date.

I Can Do It Mom. Trust Me.

Carson asked me tonight if he could lull Bennett to sleep.  His words, "I can do it Mom.  Let me snuggle Bennett to sleep.  Trust me."

So I did.  And he did.

Man I love that boy.

My Sister

Here's Brooke.
Brooke is my sister (maybe by marriage, but my sister none-the-less)
Brooke is the best part of my extended family, my brother-in-law couldn't have chosen a more fantastic woman to spend his life with.
Brooke is my favorite person to scrapbook with and we don't get to do it often enough.
Brooke is turning 31 today.

Happy Birthday Brooke!!!  Love you sister.

Merry Christmas Baby!

I know it's January and I'm still writing about Christmas but we just had our last Christmas celebration on January 7th.  We celebrated Christmas with Jeff's family this weekend.  We decided to have Christmas at our house this year for a few reasons.  The first being that as a part of Jeff's parents Christmas gift we bought a family photo session with a local photographer, the second being that we wanted to spend more than just a few short hours celebrating with family and lastly so that Carson and Bennett wouldn't be so tired because we celebrated so late at night, like usual.

It was a nice, mostly relaxing weekend.  We spent Friday night chatting and catching up, LOTS of good conversation.  Then on Saturday morning we opened gifts (just like it was Christmas morning).  Of course everyone loved everything they got and we all got more than our fair share.  Saturday afternoon we had a wonderful lasagna dinner with Caesar salad and garlic bread sticks.  For dinner that evening we had an appetizer assortment.  Lastly, on Sunday we had our family pictures and I'm eagerly waiting to see them.

So for my picture, and there were plenty to choose from, is of me opening some of Bennett's gifts.  I rarely take photos of myself and I decided now was a great time to include one of me in with the rest.

Our Weekday Mornings

A typical weekday morning in our house starts around 7 a.m.  If Carson hasn't already snuck into our bed when Jeff leaves, I go and wake him up and carry him into bed where cartoons wait for him.  I'm a little sad about this part of our morning.  It used to be all Team Oomizoomi, Dora and Spongebob Squarepants but lately it's been Bakugan & Pokemon (double uhh) and on occasion Ben 10 (which I don't mind).  Gone are the days of innocence (or so it seems) and here are the days of Japanese Anime, which I despise.

While I'm getting dressed Carson will have his breakfast in bed and watch cartoons.  Then when it's time for Bennett to start waking up I'll go in and get him out of his crib so he can watch cartoons with Carson while enjoying his pacifier.  I love listening to the two of them in the morning.  Some mornings Bennett is a little fussy and just wants to be with mom and some mornings he and Carson giggle and play together.

I love my little family.

*** Again...sorry about the portrait picture instead of landscape.

My Latest Literary Obsession

Thanks to my boss I have been hooked on the Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins.  I read the first book, Hunger Games, in no time and because I couldn't wait to get my hands on the second book, Catching Fire, I went right out and bought it at night.  Both books have been fabulous reads.  I loved them so much that I bought my sister-in-law, Brooke the first one for Christmas.  It's the next Twilight series.

Just Look At Those Baby Blues

I love how the fleece jacket that Bennett got for Christmas brings out his blue eyes.  Carson has gorgeous eyes and we've always said so, but Bennett's are BLUE, BLUE, BLUE!  Every time I look into those eyes I just melt.  What's a mother to do.  I'm sure one day my boys will melt some hearts with their eyes.

***I'm not sure why this is portrait instead of landscape but I can't get the darn thing to go landscape and since it's my "picture of the day" I can't very well go back and fix it.  :(

My Boys

Without a doubt the best part of my life is family.  I'm not just talking about my immediate family but I'll focus on that for this post.  God blessed me with two beautiful boys, brothers.  Nothing makes me happier than to see those boys giggle and play with eachother.  I know it won't be long before they are fighting with one another and time outs are plenty, but for now I'm cherishing every moment I can.  When I saw Carson & Bennnett sitting side-by-side in their striped shirts watching t.v. with eachother while I made dinner I just knew that this was my picture.  Then I went to grab my camera and they moved away from eachother.  So while I snapped pictures they caught me and posed a little, so instead of the picture of the two of them sitting side-by-side I got this little gem.  Like I said.....Cherish every moment.

Happy New Year 2012!!

In addition to keeping up with this blog I'm also going to try my hand at the picture a day again.
We started 2012 by ringing in the new year with my parents and the boys.  Poor little Bennett was such a good sport, he hung in there until 10:40 and then he just couldn't fight it any longer and the poor baby went to bed.  Carson was so cute by counting down and clanging our champagne glasses and saying "CHEERS" over and over again.  He loved that part.

Mom and I, as usual, prepared too much food for the evening.  We always make enough food to feed a small army and this year was no exception.  The best part of the food was how much Carson was willing to try.  He tried the bacon wrapped pretzels, the chocolate covered bacon and the shrimp cocktail.  I was so impressed.  He even seemed to enjoy the shrimp.  And unlike most typical five-year-olds his favorite nosh seemed to be the medium boneless buffalo wings from B-dubs.  That's our boy liking the spicy stuff.  I just hope Bennett like spicy food as much as the rest of us.

Mom and I couldn't help ourselves and had to have some sushi.  We bought some sushi and made up our own platter.  We wish we could have had it from Tegry Bistro but this platter sufficed.  So my picture for January 1st, 2012 is said platter.  Yummy!!

(1/366, it's a Leap year, ya know)

Before my mom and dad headed back home they watched the boys for us and we ventured out to see The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.  Excellent movie.  A little difficult to watch at times, violence, but all-in-all a GREAT movie.  Not to mention I love the Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross & Karen O version of Immigrant Song.  A good soundtrack can always make a movie better.

So today, Monday, I've spent the day doing laundry, reading a good book (more on that later) and just enjoying my day off.  In addition to those things and with it being a new year and all I decided that I should put my new Kinect Zumba game to good use.  Man am I outta shape!!!  It was so fun though.  So if you that I was going to post a picture of me Zumba-ing you are CRAZY.  So my picture for today is the game itself.  I'm still laughing a little that you think I would post such an embarrassing picture.
